Martin "Marty" S. Mikelson

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Martin "Marty" Stuart Mikelson on Tuesday, 20 December 2022 at 81 years old. Marty originally fell backwards on 7 April 2022 and started his eight month journey from hospital to nursing home to assisted living- memory care to hospital to nursing home. He had dementia.

Tragically Marty lost his daughter Michelle Amy (Mikelson) Arden on 22 November 2022 at 54 years old. She is shown in the photo next to Marty.

Marty was the son of Samuel and Beatrice Mikelson, who passed away at 64 years old on 3 October 1976 and at 85 years old on 26 April 1998 respectively. He also was the brother of Barbara (Mikelson) Jao who passed away at 64 years old on 4 October 2012. Marty leaves behind his grandson A.J. Ring and brother David A. Mikelson. He also leaves behind his brother-in law, Dr. John Jao and Marty’s nephew, Jonathan Jao as well as his first cousins Rabbi Michael and Rosalyn Menitoff and Dr. Paul and Susan Menitoff and Dr. Larry Handler.

Marty, Barbara and David were fortunate to grow up in the town of Milton, MA, where they attended Milton schools from kindergarten to high school and belonged to Temple Shalom, where they attended Hebrew school and were at 13 years old Bar or Bat Mitzvah. In addition Marty’s daughter, Michelle was Bat Mitvah at Temple Shalom.

We will remember Marty in all our hearts where he brought a positive radiance with him wherever he went with a warm welcoming presence. His life was most centered on his grandson AJ’s wellbeing. Marty spent much of his time on earth with AJ from the time that AJ was born on 21 June 1990 up until the present.

Marty was very social and had many friends. He loved watching Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics games. He did love going to Wollaston and Nantasket Beaches and laying out in the sun and being with friends and loved ones. He from childhood loved following the weather and routinely called and discussed upcoming storm forecasts with TV weather men like Don Kent and Barry Burbank. Marty will be sorely missed.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, 8 January 2023 at 1:00 PM at Shepetovka Cemetery of Baker Street Memorial Park, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Marty may be donated to a charity of your choice.
