I met Marina through the first round of the GNOME Outreach for Women program in 2011. We met in person at a few GNOME events and were roommates in Berlin for Guadec 2012. Marina was an extremely intelligent and down-to-earth person. Two weeks ago, I made my son Mason's birth announcement on FB, written from his viewpoint, stating enthusiastically: "I am really looking forward to this adventure called life!  It all sounds like so much fun." Marina responded with equal enthusiasm: "Congratulations!!! Have a great adventure, Mason!!!", only 12 days before her own adventure had ended. This will always stay with me. Life is precious, and it is souls like Marina's that are able to make such an impact, across distance and time! With the same enthusiasm, I would like to wish Marina's children a great adventure too! My heart goes out to the 3 of you. Your mom was an incredible person. We are all lucky to have known her. 

It is a great sorrow for all of us to lose a young, intelligent, beautiful and such a cheerful woman. She was a faithful wife, a wonderful friend, mother of three wonderful children. Everlasting memory!

I met Marina through the GNOME Outreach for Women program, before it became Outreachy. I had the pleasure of meeting her in person at GUADEC that year too, and kept in touch throughout the years through social media. She had an immensely positive influence on my life and I am very grateful for it. She truly made the world a better place.

Marina has been a member of my family since 2015 when I married her cousin. She was magic on this earth and is magic still.
