Joel Hirsh Feigon, MD, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, died peacefully surrounded by his children on March 25, 2022. Dr. Feigon is the former husband of Elizabeth Angel Feigon of Philadelphia, who preceded him in death. Together, they raised two children, Joshua Feigon (Zahava Feigon) of Phoenix, Arizona and Sarah Feigon of Roslindale. Dr. Feigon was the loving son of Rabbi Louis and Ethel Feigon of Galveston, Texas. His grandparents were Rabbi Moses and Miriam Goldberg and Rev. Joshua and Tova Feigon. He was the beloved brother of Dvora Roth (Harold Roth) of New Haven and Judith Tova Feigon (Nathan Goldman) of Houston. He also was beloved to his nieces and nephews, including Elizabeth Roth LaFarge (Albert LaFarge), David Roth, Michael Goldman, the late Miriam Goldman and great nephew and niece Will and Claire. Dr. Feigon leaves behind many dear cousins, including Monte Gilbert (Sally Gilbert), Stavie Kreh (Cheryl Karp Kreh) and Dr. Daniel Brener (Sharon Brener). Dr. Feigon also leaves beloved friend of many years and medical school classmate, Dr. Melvyn Schreiber. He also had a close relationship with the late Dorothy “Dotsie” Reed Morton of Rockport. He is mourned by many friends and former patients in Cambridge and surrounds. With Dr. Feigon at his bedside at the end of his life was his home health aide Bernadine Cantillon, who was a devoted companion to him in his later years. Dr. Feigon earned his medical degree from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1955. He leaves behind many dear friends from that class. He later did his residency in psychiatry at Mass Mental Health Center and was a practicing psychiatrist at the Harvard Health Service and in private practice. He loved learning languages, including Greek and Latin, writing, listening to music of many genres (mainly classical), meditating, tea drinking and marathon running. Dr. Feigon was private to some degree yet gregarious, loving, contemplative, always courteous and considerate even to his last days, and fiercely loyal to those he loved.
