Janet Weinberg of Brookline, MA passed away on February 26th after a brief illness. Janet was born and grew up in Newburyport, MA. She married Merton Weinberg when she was 20. They lived in Dorchester and later Brookline. After moving to Brookline, Janet began her 30-year career as the Day Manager and “house mother” at the Ronald McDonald House (now the Boston House), which became her great passion. She found the work there uplifting and meaningful and felt it was her second home.
Janet was predeceased by her husband Merton and her daughter Alissa Schultz, her parents, Morris and Celia Coltin and her brothers Billy and Barry Coltin. She leaves her daughter Susan Weinberg(Eliza Hewat), her son-in-law John Schultz, her three grandchildren, Sarah Duggan (Daniel Duggan), Anna Hewat (Eric Claver) and Colton Schultz, and her two great-grandsons Brandon and Robert Duggan.
Janet lived for 96 rich and full years. She had a raucous and irreverent sense of humor, a kind heart, and she loved and was loved by many.
A service will be held at the Levine Chapel on Harvard Street in Brookline on Thursday, February 29 at 11:30. There will be no calling hours.
