Harriet Joanne (Green) Monson

Harriet Joanne (Green) Monson, age 95, left us on August 24, 2022.

She was a resident of Naples, Florida and former resident of Sudbury, MA and Newton, MA. as well as a summer resident of West Hyannisport, MA.  Beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Monson of Sudbury, MA and Naples, FL, sister of the late Philip H. Green, mother of Paul L. Monson of Naples, FL and Boston, MA, Susan L. Olson of Brighton, MA and Robert Whitman-Raymond of Uxbridge, MA.  Mother-in-law of Craig Olson of Brighton, MA and  Leda Whitman- Raymond of Uxbridge, MA. Grandmother of Jessica and Rebecca Whitman-Raymond. Harriet was the daughter of the late Ruth and Philip H. Green, founder of the StrideRite Corporation. She was a spirited, loving, refined lady who was intelligent and beautiful. She was a maverick and ahead of her time in many ways and a truly genuine person. 

Ms. Monson was born in Cincinnati, OH on February 25, 1927 and moved to Boston at age ten. She attended Green Mountain College in Vermont, and worked part-time in high-end retail which she really enjoyed. Harriet traveled globally with her late husband as well as with her son, Paul. Above all, she was a devoted, loving mother and human being who did her very best with life and its joys and challenges. The beauty, intelligence, spirit and kindness of Harriet will always be present with those who loved her. 

Ms. Monson was a member of Temple Shalom in Naples, Florida.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the StrideRite Charitable Foundation or a charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 11Am at Sudbury Town Cemetery, 343 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA 01776. Memorial (shiva) observances will be private.
