Dr. Harold Simon of Palm Beach and Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts died at his home in Palm Beach on January 8, 2015. He was a pioneer in the field of radiology, purchasing the first remote control equipment in Massachusetts; prototypes that began the massive evolution in this field. Having served as a Navy doctor in Newport, Dr. Simon cared for Navy frogmen for two years.He trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital, was a graduate of Duke University Medical School and received a fellowship in the American College of Radiology. Dr. Simon was Chief of Radiology at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Dr. Simon served as an assistant professor at Tufts Medical School where he taught for many years. He was President of Pinebrook Country Club and Chairman of Allocations at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach where he was a Board Member for many years. He leaves his wife Jane (Ludwig), two sons, Steven and his wife Elizabeth, and John and his wife Susan, and four grandchildren Lauren, Thomas, Abigail and Matthew. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Jane and Harold Simon Fund at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or the charity of your choice. A Memorial service will be held at his late residence in Palm Beach on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:00PM. Funeral services will be at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward Street, Newton on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Adath Jeshrun Cemetery, West Roxbury.
