Eleanor A. (Young) Tankel, 92, of Newton, formerly of Saugus, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 12, 2024. For 61 years she was the beloved wife of the late Sidney J. Tankel. Loving and devoted mother of Cheryl Cohen and her husband Gary, Stephen Tankel and his wife Rose Shapiro, and Gail Cohen and her husband Scott. Adored "nanny" of Matthew and his partner Clarke, Andrew and his wife Sara, Jake, Charli and her husband Will, Sam, and Alex. Loving great grandmother of Liora and Ari. Dear sister of the late Eliot Young and his wife Dorothy, and Arnold Young. Fond aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
Long-time bookkeeper at the family business working alongside Sidney. Active member of Hadassah. Enjoyed mah-jongg, knitting, puzzles, and playing cards.
Services at the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon on Sunday, April 14 at 1pm.
Memorial observance at the Towers of Chestnut Hill at 250 Hammond Pond Pkwy, Newton, MA 02467 in the South Building 14th floor following the service until 7:00pm.
