Doris S. Lewis

Beloved wife for 56 years of the late Allen S. Lewis. Loving mother of Jane Lewis Weissman and the late Dr. Susan Lewis Cooper. Cherished grandmother of Seth Lewis Cooper & fiancée Cassie Colombo, Amanda Lewis Cooper & her husband Christopher Tordini, and Jennifer Nicole Weissman. Fond mother-in-law of Marc Cooper & his wife Felice Mendell. Devoted sister of the late Stanley Franklin Schwartz. Dear aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Doris was a past chairperson of the Women’s Division of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and a longtime board member of the Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly. Doris was a graduate of Abbott Academy and Russell Sage College with a B.A. in Sociology.

Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12:00NOON. Burial at Chevra Kadusha of Boston, Woburn. Following burial, memorial observance will be at her late residence until 8:00PM and on Tuesday from 2-8:00PM.

The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional care provided by her physician Dr. Kay Petersen of BIDMC.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly or Combined Jewish Philanthropies.
