David Rogers Stone of Wellesley, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on September 13th, 2024, at his home on Cape Cod after a long illness.
David was born on March 15th, 1957, in Newton Massachusetts to Morris and Gail Stone. He was a proud quadruple Jumbo: graduating from Tufts University and School of Medicine as well as completing residency and fellowship at Tufts Medical Center. David loved his forty-year career as an infectious disease specialist and retired in April 2024 as an Associate Emeritus Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. David was passionate about caring for underserved communities as a physician at Tufts, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and for the Department of Corrections in Massachusetts. He was instrumental in leading clinical care, education and studies on HIV/AIDS from the early days of the HIV epidemic. Throughout his career, David was beloved by his patients and colleagues.
David was known for his intelligence, kindness, humility and sense of humor. He was an exceptional physician, talented bird photographer, and enthusiastic wooden boat builder.
David was a loving husband, father, uncle and Zayde. He is survived by his wife Marguerite Ricciardone, daughter Sophia Stone (Robert Stackhouse), sons Alexander Stone (Margaret Horvath) and Samuel Stone (Aubrey Thrane), grandson Kittell Stone and sister Beverly Ash (Paul Ash) and niece Dawn Ash, and many family, friends, colleagues, patients, neighbors, students and fellow bird/boat enthusiasts. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Gail Stone and his miniature poodle Curly.
