Charles Stephen Bressler of Brookline passed away on February 11th at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a hard battle with cancer. Stephen was born to parents Bernard and Hilda Bressler. He grew up in North Quincy and attended North Quincy High school. He then went to Northeastern University where he met his wife Linda (Entes). He graduated with a Bachelors of Journalism and then went on to receive his Masters at Boston University for Social Education.
Stephen was very active in the community, serving as the Human Relations/Youth Resources Director for the town of Brookline for many years. He was so involved in the community it is hard to compile everything he has done. Two of his biggest contributions were The Safety Net and Soul Witness. He hosted and was very involved in “The Safety Net”, a panel show that featured local agencies that provide services in the community for those who might need assistance. He also interviewed holocaust survivors and was involved in the documentary “Soul Witness” which told their stories.
Stephen attended congregation Beth Pinchas, which was an important part of his life. He traveled to Israel several times and worked on a kibbutz. He would recount his times abroad often and lessons that he learned. He actively contributed within the congregation and the local Jewish community.
Stephen was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Linda in March of 2021. He is survived by his son David, his partner Rebekah and their two children Lilia and Madilyn; his sister Miriam Kleiner and nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law Ronald Einziger and nieces; many friends and former colleagues. Services will be held privately.
