Carol Freedman Lieberman passed away on April 20, 2025 having lived for many years with Alzheimer’s.
Born on June 8, 1940 in Providence, RI, Carol’s devotion and love for her parents remained throughout her life—and her Providence roots remained strong to the end. Carol received her A.B. from Radcliffe College in 1961 and an M.A.T. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education in 1962. She was a dedicated alumna and volunteer for Radcliffe for more than 50 years.
During her lifetime, she worked as a teacher, development associate, medical editor, financial coordinator, general manager of a start-up, and director of a non-profit. In 2016 Carol received the Beverly Benner Cassara Award for her years of work running the Cambridge Senior Volunteer Clearinghouse. Carol was a volunteer extraordinaire, a committed friend, a loving relative and above all else, a devoted mother and grandmother.
She leaves behind three children, Joanna Lieberman (David Fleishman), Hilary Link (Jeff) and David Lieberman (Liza Zassenhaus); and eight beloved grandchildren: Aaron Fleishman, Joshua Fleishman, Jason Link, Alexander Link, Zachary Link, Sydney Lieberman, Jonah Lieberman and Zoe Lieberman.
The second half of her life was deeply enriched by her friendship with Dr. Deborah Langston and Deborah’s daughter, Wyndy Ayares. Their world travels, summers on the Vineyard, and holiday celebrations with family and friends brought great joy, and a second life, to Carol. Carol’s enduring legacy is one of love and devotion to her family and friends, a gift that lives on in each of them. She will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral service to be held in the Chapel at Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Rd, Warwick, RI on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in Carol’s name to either Hugs at www.helpusgivesmiles.org/donate or American Jewish World Service at act.ajws.org/secure/donate .
