Born in Radom, Poland, he came to America in 1947 and settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he became Director of Harvard Hillel. He succeeded in bringing his profound love and knowledge of Jewish learning and ritual into the modern American context in a way that honored and fostered the tradition of change and enabled him to serve as an inspiring and beloved leader to countless students, colleagues, and friends. He was the sole survivor of his parents, three sisters, and brother. A devoted father, he is survived by his daughters Merav and Hannah.
Services at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Wednesday, April 20 at 11:30am.
Interment at Staro Konstantinov Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury.
Shiva at his late residence, Wednesday and Thursday from 6-8pm.
