Beloved husband of the late Susanne (Taymor). Loving father of Karen W. Starr & Marshall N. Goldberg of Wayland, Nancy W. & Matthew B. Allen of Wellesley and Mark W. & Tina U. Wolozin of Sandy Springs, GA. Adored grandfather of Emily, Andy, Jesse, Sam, Isabel, Gabrielle and Justin and great grandfather of Oliver. Dear brother of the late Sonya Goldman and Matthew Wolozin. A special thanks to his wonderful caregiver Charity Nyanor.
Everyone who ever met Allen described him as one of the warmest and friendliest people they ever met. Allen attended Malden High School and graduated from Tufts University in 1948, where he met his beloved wife, Susanne, with whom he spent 63 wonderful years. He lived with his family for many years in Brockton, and joined A. Taymor Shoe in 1949, where he served as President/CEO from 1976-1990.
Allen was involved in many charities and civic organizations, many in Brockton, throughout his adult life. He was a life trustee at the Fuller Craft Museum, Chairman of the Brockton Hospital Board from 1978-1980, and the Rotary Club of Brockton. Also actively involved in many Jewish organizations including JCRC of Greater Boston, CJP, Temple Israel (Brockton), and Jewish Family and Children’s Service, Director of Two/Ten Foundation from 1983-1990, New England Chair for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science from 1989-1995
Services at Temple Beth Elohim, 10 Bethel Rd., Wellesley on Monday, June 8 at 1:00pm. Burial at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon.
Memorial observance immediately following the interment through 8:00pm and continuing Tuesday & Wednesday from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the home of Nancy & Matthew Allen.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Tufts University Athletics or the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA.
