Robert (Bob) Edward Ehn, Jr. was born on The Ides of March- March 15,1961 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Robert found peace at age 63 on Monday, February 17, 2025. Robert was the son of the late Gloria Jean (Thompson) and the late Robert Edward Ehn, Sr. He is survived by his younger brother Eric Sven Ehn, Sr., his nieces & nephews- Eric Jr., Mandi & Nicholas Ehn, and former Sister-in-Law Nicole Ehn. Infant niece Megan Rose Ehn preceded Robert in death.
He was also preceded in death by his Grandparents on his mother’s side Olga Neimann & Edward Thompson & Uncle Dan Thompson and his Grandparents on his father’s side -John Arthur Ehn & Edna Ehn, his Aunts & Uncles- Claude (Myrtle & Ruth), Ray (Shirley), Richard (Jean), John (Joan) & Byron N. Ehn, Sr.
He was also preceded in death by his cousins Alan & Gary Ehn, Robert Wm. Ehn, John A. Ehn, III, & Jeffrey A. Ehn, Sr. Robert looked up to his two older cousins- John (Jack) & Jeff- because they had similar interests working with & on cars.
He is further survived by his Aunt Jean (wife of Byron), cousins Mary (Gerry) Gollwitzer, Janet (Joe Redwine) Ehn, Ron (Diane) Ehn, Jill (Tim) Noonan and Joy (Mark) Smith, and other second cousins and numerous friends.
Robert Jr. and his Father, Robert Sr. who passed in 2000, will now share a joint headstone at WI Memorial Park in the EHN Family plot section. His mother Gloria is buried in Oshkosh with her parents. Ironically the day Robert died is his cousin Jeff’s heavenly birthday.
Robert attended numerous grade schools like McKinley in Wauwatosa, Hiawatha in Menomonee Falls (where he had his Aunt Joan as his second-grade teacher!). He also attended Thomas Jefferson in the Falls, Friess Lake Grade School and one year at Hartford High School before moving to Arrowhead High School in Hartland, WI. There Shop Class was his favorite- because it had four areas of focus: Electronics, Wood, Auto & Metals. Robert enjoyed Woods & Metals the most.
Robert’s first job was as a machinist, worked for a cleaning service, & then did some heavy work for H&H Salvage Yard. Robert actually assisted moving the entire Salvage Yard when it shifted from its Hartland to the new Sussex location, NOT an easy task!
Robert’s proudest accomplishment is when he purchased a Body Shop with the inheritance money he received from his Mom’s passing. Although his overly trusting ways using outside management people of the shop led to it losing money and to its demise.
Robert’s love for video games like Asteroids on his old black & white TV led him to master any computer games quite quickly. This guided him into a love of computer repair where he could change out hard drives, memory and mother boards to upgrade old computer equipment into today’s standards. He was even able to save a motherboard after Eric accidently drove over the laptop with his car!
Robert had the nickname of Mr. Dashboard, because he could take apart a dashboard of a car in a flash. He also had some not so favorite nicknames like- Blister (because he would show up after all the work is done) or Bob the Slob- because of his untidy ways. He truly hated both of the later nicknames, but didn’t do much to change his ways. He lived life on his own terms.
Robert was a very tall man standing a whopping 6 foot 8 inches. He loved the comfortable more casual look of a well-loved button-down flannel shirt which he wore often. Although Robert enjoyed the bachelor life, he did have two longer term relationships with women. One gal lived with him for two years, and one he lived with another for 10 years. Although neither turned into a marriage, he continued to enjoy the female form and has lots of International female friends on-line.
Robert was a very sharp and bright guy, but just lacked ambition and drive to do anything more with his talents. He enjoyed being taken care of- rather than fending for himself. He was a man with simple needs- he just wanted Food in his belly, Gas in his car, a Roof over his head and a Cigarette in his hand. Smoking was the bad habit he picked up in 7th grade.
Robert’s Type O blood made him a Universal Donor. Despite having infections from Diabetes, he had quite healthy skin for his age. With Robert’s passing he was able to donate several body parts to potentially help 50-80 other people with cornea, bone & heart outer casing donations and a large portion of skin from his belly, back & thighs for graphs. Versiti- the Donor Company was quite impressed with the size graphs they could get because of his grand stature.
Robert was dearly loved, (especially by Eric) and will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be from 11-12 p.m. with funeral service starting at noon on Friday, February 21, 2025 in the Chapel of the Flowers at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI. Interment will be @ Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery by Peace of Mind Funeral Home directly after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations would be greatly appreciated directly to the family (Eric Ehn) to help with funeral & burial expenses. Thank you very much in advance.
