Karen Kalb Dybro, age 84, of Waukesha, WI, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI and passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Karen was born on April 1, 1939, in Dale, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Ada (Kloehn) Felsner. She graduated from Washington High School in in New London in 1957, where she was a drum majorette and prom queen. She attended college at both Oshkosh and Lawrence University where she studied music. She was united in marriage to Walter (Wally) Kalb on January 24, 1959, in Dale, moved to South Milwaukee and had three sons. After Walter passed away on July 4, 1976, Karen remarried on August 14, 1978 to William (Bill) Dybro until his death in May of 1998.
Karen was a gifted pianist and organist that most enjoyed playing for her church, special music engagements and for family gatherings. Throughout her life, she pursued ballet, musical theater, mime and choral arts along with interior design, real-estate and retail clothing sales.
Karen was a devoted Christian who loved spending time with her family, her church, traveling the world, seeing the latest movies and watching her sons’ performances.
Karen is survived by her children, Kevin (Alison) Kalb, Kent Kalb, Kris (Robert) Kalb; two grandchildren, Sienna and Austin; sister, Marjean (Felsner) Stern; niece, Christa Stern Eilers; nephew Trevor Stern; fiancé, Greg Balzer and many dear friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kalb, her second husband, William Dybro; and her parents, Arthur and Ada Felsner.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Wisconsin Memorial Park-Chapel of the Chimes (13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI) at 1:30 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM. A luncheon will follow the Celebration of Life at Wisconsin Memorial Park in the reception room. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a Hospice facility of your choice.
