Ironically, we summited Mt. Rose  at 2  pm your time.  {My quota for funerals is at “negative fumes” …so it is best I share this  venue with you  instead.} it was a hard hike, but made me think about you more.  The team at TSA will be missing you for a very long time.

So Choung, in keeping with your family's request, we hiked to the  Sierra Nevada National Park….to the summit at Mt Rose (10,785ft) which is where this marker for you was placed. I found a smooth rock, and added the cross (praying God is with you…!). The cross was made with popcorn.( sweet and salty), like you! Along the way, there were clear and murky waters. High 30 mph winds made the summit difficult.  But it was a way for me to “be there” for you.

I’ve spent the past several days contemplating what to write.   I know most ppl utilize this venue to speak to you Chuong….but I want to switch gears a bit and tell the loved ones left behind a few  things.  Besides…I talk to you in prayer these days.  Your sons should know the kind of man I knew you to be from sitting several hours each month in meetings dedicated to creating a better work environment. You pushed the envelope, asked the hard questions, held others accountable, and thought outside the box to create solutions.  You were also always the first one to volunteer to take on a task…any task.  You strived for better…in us and in yourself.  I admire the commitment you had for making certain everyone had what they needed.  Rest in peace brother…..we’ll take it from here…and I hope we can live up to your expectations.

What can I say that hasn’t been said already..
Chuong you meant a lot to me & to a lot of people. Everyday working with you meant a day of you trying to make everybody else’s day better. You were always trying to “do better”, no feat was too small. You cared about everything more than most and always came up with solutions. I remember coming back from work trips and you’d always say hi and ask how my trips were. I could not for the life of me remember who you were in your white shirt. One day Jordan said, that’s Chuong. I came up to you shortly after when I was on the checkpoint and said “hey man, I can’t remember your name.” You said, “you hired me man, I’m Chuong. I thought I interviewed pretty well.” Then it clicked, we laughed about it and you would joke about it every now and then. I’m going to miss those conversations when you’d come into the office whether it was talk about work, life, or just how things got “Damico’d”. You were one of the good guys Chuong. I regret us not going to play pickleball, basketball or golf every time you’d invite us. Every Guinness we have, every hike we do, you’ll be in our thoughts. Love you man, we’ll see you one day again. Please accept our deepest condolences Callie’s family.

Chuong was the kind of person we all aspire to be. He treated others like he wanted to be treated. He made everyone around him feel welcome. He made people's lives better. He was a fantastic human being. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Chuong, outside of work. We played pickleball and basketball together, multiple times. I will never forget those days. Choung had a major impact, on all of our lives, one you cannot measure. I still cannot believe that you are gone. I'm so glad I had the pleasure of knowing you, even though it wasn't for very long. Thank you for being there for all of us, when you were fighting your own fight. That speaks volumes to the kind of person Chuong was. He wanted those around him to be happy, no matter what. I'm sending my deepest condolences to his family, during this extremely difficult time. Chuong, you were so special. You will live in our hearts for the rest of our lives. I hope you are flying high in paradise. Rest easy, my friend. ❤️

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to put into words what you meant to me . You weren’t just one of my best friends at work , you were one of my best friends I’ve had in my life . Life, work, and many things won’t ever be the same without you but knowing you even for an abbreviated amount of time was a gift I was happy to be blessed with . I’m sad my first born never got to meet “uncle Chuong” but all the things I learned from you and loved about you WILL be passed on. Tennessee 2020. Crazy how time flies. Feels like this was yesterday. We jumped into a freezing cold river, hiked in the mountains, and had the most beautiful drive. I remember we even drove to NC. I miss the fun memories.

Our last conversation will forever stay in my memory. I wish I could have known it would've been our last.......I would have said so much more. I will miss your "smiling eyes" and the corny dad jokes. RIP my friend. My deepest sympathies go out to the Callies Family. He was an amazing man, colleague and friend to all of us.

I still feel like this isn't real. I remember setting you up with a pretty awesome coach when you first started, and we became fast friends. I keep thinking I'm going to walk into work and get my daily hug, or hear "I'll see you at lunch".  I loved swapping stories about our crazy kids and hearing your ridiculous jokes. You were like a walking ray of sunshine, everybody knew they could come to you with whatever was on their mind and that it was a safe place. You made a huge impact on everyone you met. I can't believe I won't see you anymore, I wish I made more of an effort to go to your concourse since I came back in February. I miss you so much already. Thank you for being such an amazing person, I wish we could have had more time together. Rest in Peace ❤️

I haven’t seen Chuong in a while but he was always a pleasure to be around. Always crackin a joke and putting a smile on your face. He is definitely going to be missed.

As I think about you while writing this, still feels unreal. I only knew you for a little before YOU decided  to embrace me with your smile and kindness.  Our love for our children was always something we had in common, along with basketball and trivia you were the brother I never knew I needed here in Milwaukee.  Our jokes and secret way of getting through the day. I miss you already my friend , love you always.

I only got the pleasure of knowing Chuong a short while after moving here, but he was one of the first friends I made and was always going out of his way to make me feel welcome. Inviting me to things, introducing me to people, etc. Any time spent with Chuong at work or outside of it was better because of his personality and character. He always had everyone around him laughing and smiling. I'd give anything to lose to you in pickleball again. You're missed already, brother. Thanks for your friendship and always taking the time to make me feel welcome. Until we meet again, my friend.

So sad to hear to hear that Chuong is no longer with us. He was the type of individual who would send me postcards when he went on vacations. He would tell me to keep an eye out for his cards. Pretty cool that my friend would take time out to think of others, while enjoying his free time!!  To the Callies family, please know that Chuong really did have  a good HEART & that is why MANY of ours are hurting today...

My 15th birthday. He put the bow from a gift I got on his head. I remember laughing constantly.
