Michael was born April 13, 1922 in Bronx, NY. He was a true “Bronx Boy” who was proud to spend all 93 years of his life in the Bronx. Michael was a WWII veteran, an entrepreneur who owned a luncheonette for 20 years, and retired as a United States Postal Supervisor. He relished his role as patriarch, and cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.
Michael is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl Pieroni (Anthony), Christine Materasso (Alfred), and Patrice Catuogno (Carl); his daughter-in-law Karen Schiavone; twelve grandchildren and eleven great–grandchildren; his brother James Schiavone and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Frances Schiavone (Sica), and his beloved son Michael Schiavone.
A celebration of life service will be held at John Dormi and Sons Funeral Home, at 1121 Morris Park Ave, Bronx, NY 10461. Visitation will take place Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral mass will be Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 754 E Gun Hill Rd, Bronx, NY 10467, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
