Jacquelyn Laux, 90, of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at SkyView Care & Rehab in Bridgeport, NE.
She was born in Bayard, NE on June 10, 1931 to Al and Dorothy (Cadwell) Hoyt. She grew up on the family farm north of Bayard. She went to school at East 58 north of Bayard and graduated from Bayard High School at the age of 16. She attended Chadron State College, UNL, and Nebraska Wesleyan and became a teacher. She taught school at Bayard, Broken Bow, Lincoln and Sidney.
She met William Laux while at school in Lincoln and they were married on June 4, 1959 at her parent’s home. They had 3 children: Kirk, Kent and Timothy. They made their home on the farm south of Bridgeport. When not busy with the boys, Jackie was active in the community. She was a member and Deacon of the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church. She served on the Bridgeport Arts Council and as a board member of ESU #13. She was active in the Garden Club and the Presbyterian Women.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 1 granddaughter. She is survived by her children: Kirk (Buffi) of Bridgeport, Kent (Channy) of Fremont, CA and Timothy of Morris, MN, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 with The Reverend Jonathan Berosek officiating. Memorials may be given to the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.bridgeportmemorialchapel.com to be added to a keepsake book for the family.
