Willie James Proctor passed away September 30, 2022 at the age of 83. He was born March 11, 1939 in Jackson, Mississippi and is survived by his wife, Delores Proctor of Brentwood, TN; son, Willie James Proctor, Jr (wife Candee) of Salt Lake, Utah; Daughter, Najah Proctor (children Ayla, Amaya, David and Davian) of Brentwood, TN; grandson/son, Brandyn Proctor (wife Ishtar, daughter Lumina) of Waipahu, Hawaii; brother, Charles A Proctor III of Los Angeles, California; sister, Annie Rose Hutchinson (husband Leonard, sons Bubba, Mel, Kippie (wife Julie) and AJ) of Las Vegas; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and Christian family members and friends.
He enlisted in the Air Force and attended Yokota school of Airmanship and received his certificate of training 6102D Air Base Wing. He was US Air Force Veteran and completed Business and Psychology studies at Mercy College of Detroit. He was a UAW Local Union President. Quality control supervisor and was employed by Bendix Corporation in Divisional, Group and Corporate Human Resources management positions. He was corporate director of employee relations at US Shoe and assisted with the launching of Lens Crafters Optical Stores. He has been a freelance consultant to Ford Motor Company, General Cable Company, Xavier University and Right Management Associates. He was also employed as Vice President and retired in 2002 from his position as National Director of Leadership Development at the YMCA national office in Chicago, IL. Willie moved to Brentwood, TN in 2001 from Naperville, IL. As a Brentwood retiree he became a part-time employee and had worked full time. He was Vice President of Executive Search and Marketing for Questar Staffing in Brentwood.
The Proctor’s said they “Will always remember the kindness extended by our Brentwood church family with love, support and understanding when our beloved son, Damian passed away in July of 2001. This is truly when the meaning of love and comfort from your Christian family is experienced and known.”
Willie was a devoted and faithful Christian, a member of Brentwood Baptist Church, was an active deacon, Rockbridge Foundation, SRT and Racial Unity Team. Funeral services will be held October 8, 2022 at Brentwood Baptist Church. Visitation 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and funeral to follow 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m., with Reverend Gayle Haywood of Brentwood Baptist Church and Reverend Robert E Johnson, Gary, IN. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens in Springhill, TN. The family will receive friends at Hudson Hall in Brentwood Baptist Church after these services (Entrance G back of the building at West side of the Connection Center entrance).
