Virginia met her husband Walter in a car dealership in Peekskill, New York in 1955. Walter was selling his car and heading to serve as an Army First Lieutenant officer in the Korean war. Virginia was turning in a car she won in a raffle for a nicer upgrade.
They corresponded for 16 months while Walter served in Korea before marrying in January of 1957 and later moving to Ithaca, NY where their children were born. Later they moved to Phelps, NY where they operated a commercial greenhouse business on their property for several years. Over the next 25 years, Virginia became an expert in real estate with moves to Illinois, Texas, Connecticut, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. After Walter’s death, Virginia moved to Ohio and finally Tennessee to be with her family.
Virginia was an avid gardener, dog lover and chocolate aficionado. She spent her last 9 years in Brentwood Tennessee with her beloved dog – Charlie and dined almost nightly with Karl and his wife Amy Leopard. Virginia enjoyed many trips to the Ryman, the Nashville Symphony, Bluebird on the Mountain, Lakeside, Ohio, Evans Mills and Bell Buckle, TN to name a few.
