He is survived by his wife Katherine (Katy) of Brentwood, son Joseph (Laurie) Gregory of College Grove, and daughter Kellie Gregory of Nolensville; brothers Jimmy (Sharon) Gregory of Birmingham AL and Johnny (Lisa) Gregory of Franklin; several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Mr. Gregory graduated in 1959 from Hume-Fogg High School in Nashville; he earned his degree in civil engineering from Tennessee Tech University in 1965. He worked as a civil engineer for 44 years in the concrete reinforcing steel industry, having retired in 2002 from Ameristeel. He was a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Tennessee Road Builders Association, the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute, Construction Specifications Institute, the Nashville Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. He worked the last 17 years for Evans Glass Company. He gave of his time for Innercity Ministry (Room in the Inn and Harvest Hands) and Hope Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, wood working, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Gregory was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for thirty years.
Services will be at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Thursday November 1. Visitation will begin at 9:30am, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00am. Dr. Davis Chappell will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Encounter Sunday School Class.
Family and friends are invited to a brief ice cream reception after the service at the church.
A private interment will be held with immediate family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Wayne Gregory can be made to Brentwood United Methodist Church Music Department or to Harvest Hands (c/o BUMC).
