Marianne Cameron

Born in New Haven, CT, on March 3, 1955, Marianne was the third of four children born to Walter and Jean Cameron. She grew up in Milford, CT, where she attended St. Mary’s and Milford High School. She graduated from Castleton State College and moved to Nashville in 1997, transferring for her job with UPS.

In 1999 she purchased her first home in the Falcon Creek Subdivision in Franklin, TN, where she quickly got to know many in the neighborhood from her daily walks with her dogs. She always knew what was happening in the community and would often be the first person to welcome new move-ins.

Marianne was a valued member of Nashville's canine community. Her work ranged from dog sitting to fostering rescue dogs to training and competing dogs, including her own, Tipper and Kensie, in her work with Leaps & Bounds Dog Agility. Other rescues included her beloved Bosley, Kadie and Auggie. But she was loved by all dogs, especially since she always had dog treats in her pockets!

Marianne had an amazing sense of humor that she kept up even in her final days. The staff at NHC Place at Cool Springs would often comment on her being one of their favorites because of her spunk and ability to joke and laugh. She truly wanted to make every person she met smile.

Among the many things Marianne's friends will remember include her amazing sewing skills. During the early days of the Covid pandemic she sewed hundreds of masks to give away, but she made dresses, outfits, and costumes for friends and their children. She also baked incredible custom birthday cakes for those that she loved.

Marianne’s candor and humor made her a valued member of the breast cancer survivor community in Nashville. During COVID, she was instrumental in ensuring the groups stayed together. Her dedication and friendship was evident as she became one of the most visited patients at NHC in her final months of life.

Marianne was predeceased by her loving father Walter Cameron. Left to cherish her memory are her mother Jean, brothers Allan (Joan), Scott (Dorothy), David (Denise), nieces and nephews Allan, Sarah, Robert, and Elizabeth, and her “Nashville family," Cate Loes, husband Eric and their children Julia, Maggie, and Jack Loes.

A memorial service beginning at 1 PM followed by a celebration “party” will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 9010 Church St E, Brentwood, TN 37027. You are encouraged to wear tie-dye or Hawaiian style attire in honor of Marianne.

Marianne was a lifelong Catholic. A Christian burial Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Saint Mary Church in Milford, CT, followed by interment at Saint Mary Cemetery, also in Milford.
