She was born in Lobelville, TN in 1946 to Garland and Lorena Bledsoe. She grew up in Parsons, TN with three sisters and five brothers in a small house with a lot of love. Being the eldest sibling, Judy helped her mother raise the other children.
Judy moved to Nashville where she married and gave birth to a daughter and a son. Sonya, Matthew and their families meant the world to her, but she was also able to spread constant love and support to other family members, friends and her church community unselfishly. She was a founding member at Christ Church. She worked as a bookkeeper and in business until finding her passion in non-profit work later in life. Her work at Mercy Ministries brought greater purpose to both her professional and personal life. She was an advocate for everyone, championing others’ personal and spiritual growth. Most of all, she allowed her deepened faith to lead in everything she did.
Judy was preceded in death by her Father, Garland Bledsoe; Mother, Lorena (Price) Bledsoe and second husband, Dwaine Jones. She is survived by Daughter, Sonya (Randall) Smith; Son, Matthew (Tara) Wilson and her beloved granddaughters, Lauren Smith, Lindsey Smith, Lexie (Kasem) Awad, and Kennedy Wilson.
As mentioned, Judy was the eldest of nine children. She leaves all eight siblings behind, and many nieces and nephews. Siblings include Gene Bledsoe, Johnny (Rena) Bledsoe, Joan (Rev. Robert) McGray, Donnie (Trudy) Bledsoe, Janet Vaughn, Ann Smithson, David (Rosa) Bledsoe and Tim (Mindy) Bledsoe.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Christ Church’s Wallace Chapel at 15353 Old Hickory Blvd in Nashville, TN on Wednesday, May 8 at 2pm with visitation at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judy’s memory to Mercy Multiplied (formerly Mercy Ministries) at PO Box 111060; Nashville, TN 37222 or online at www.MercyMultiplied.com.
