Jason was born on June 26, 1977 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the son of James C. Sloan and Patricia Collier Sloan. He married Elizabeth “Betsy“ Hughes on April 5, 2003 at Amelia Island Plantation, Florida. Jason was a passionate soccer player and fan. He played soccer while attending White Station High School in Memphis, TN, and was also a member of the Memphis Football Club and Manchester United Fans of Middle Tennessee. He was a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he was a member of their soccer team. He was employed at Asurion Corporation in Nashville, and held the position of Senior Director - Treasury. Jason loved life and lived it to the fullest. His passions were his family and many friends. His infectious smile and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving is his loving wife, Betsy; parents, James and Tricia Sloan; father-in-law Robert (Sandra) Hughes; brother-in-law, Rob (Tanya) Hughes; paternal grandmother, Vivian Sloan; paternal uncle, Richard Sloan; maternal uncle, John (wife, Gladis) Collier; paternal aunt, Debbie Hinson; maternal aunt, Jamie Garner; and his two beloved dogs, Ryder and Ralphie Sloan.
Preceding him in death is his mother-in-law, Jane Clay Hughes; and maternal grandparents, King and Dorothy Collier.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Vanderbilt University Hematology Helping Hands Fund, Attn: Gift and Donor Services, 3322 West End Avenue, Suite 900, Nashville, TN 37203, in memory of his mother-in-law, Janie Hughes.
A Celebration of Jason’s Life will be held at a later date.
