Graduate of Hillsboro High School and attendee of Vanderbilt University. He designed, bought, and supervised purchases in the aerospace industry with AVCO. Later, he worked out of California in Contract and Program Management for a large aerospace machine shop. In May of 2018 he moved back to Tennessee to be with his family.
He fathered two daughters, Anne (Rick) and Jane. His family grew to include grandchildren Maggie, John (Lowavia), and Shelby, great-grandchildren Shayna, Hannah, Skyler, and Connor, as well as great-great-grandaughter Stephanie.
A lifelong lover of music, he sang in choruses, choirs, and several barbershop quartets.
He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, bright smile, and his great big laugh. But most of all, he will be remembered for how much he loved his family.
He was survived by all of his descendants, his siblings Jimmy Hooper (Pat) and Cathy Thompson (Billy), his nieces Tammy Hooper and Melissa Stinson, his nephew Jimmy Hooper Jr. (Judy), and his great-nieces Jessica Stinson, Katelyn Stinson, and Brooklyn Stinson.
