Ellen K. Barton

Ellen Katz Barton, age 81, passed away on Thursday, November, 7, 2019. She was born on March 12, 1938 to Joseph Katz and Helen O’Brien Katz. Ellen often spoke of fond memories of her biological parents and her loving stepmother, Rosie Katz. Ellen is preceded in death by her husband and greatest friend, Robert Barton, and her siblings, Joseph, Maxwell, and Mary. Ellen is survived by her nephew and niece, Matthew and Amy Katz, as well as their children, Marla and Madelynn. She is also survived by her special friend, Angela Muwonge, and her daughter, Ashley Ellen.

Ellen took great pride in her origins. She was proud to have been raised in the Bronx, NY, and she was proud to have been raised according to both the Jewish and Roman Catholic faiths. Ellen most enjoyed spending time with her husband, her family, and her friends. She had a passion for giving, especially to organizations in support of women, medicine, and education.

Ellen had a spirit unlike any other. She was sharp and intellectual, funny and energetic, and caring and compassionate. She had a timeless sense of class and style.

Family and friends will gather to honor Ellen’s memory on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00am-11:00am. A Celebration of Life service will follow at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens.
