Daniel James Dubriwny (Danny, Big Data Dan, Elton Dan, The Best Dad That Ever Was), 67, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was born on October 7, 1954 in Dearborn, MI, to Lena Mary Russo and the late Waldymyr Dubriwny. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lynne, children Dana and Dan, and grandson Logan. He also leaves behind his mother Lena, his brother Dave and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with a host of musicians in the Nashville area.
Daniel had a sharp ear for tone and rhythm, making music a natural fiber in the fabric of his life. He learned to play the piano and organ as a young boy and in his teenage years formed Danny James and the Young Set, a band that would finance his collegiate studies. He attended the University of Michigan where he obtained degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Management Information Systems. Following his graduation, he worked for several software companies in the Detroit and Chicago areas, eventually landing at IBM and moving to Nolensville, TN.
When he wasn’t closing deals or practicing on his Hammond, he was an astute student of life and history, reading and learning about every subject he could find. He especially loved science fiction, collecting historical memorabilia, cooking, and gardening. His friends and family reveled in his famous herb medley, Daddy’s Special Salt. Known as “Uncle Dan”, children and animals were naturally drawn to his positive energy. His passion for life was contagious. He leaves behind a substantial hole that only he could fill; he will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from three until six in the afternoon at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on June 24, 2022. A toast in Dan's honor will take place at three thirty in the afternoon.
