Wallace Eugene Long, Jr., age 72, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on April 4, 2025. Born on February 6, 1953, he was the son of the late Lillian Anna (Romagno) Long and Wallace Eugene Long, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brother Frederick Long.
Wally was a simple man who found joy in life’s everyday moments. He loved the outdoors and especially cherished his time at the beach. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and held a special bond with his niece and nephews—memories with them were among his most treasured.
He worked as a fabricator in the fencing industry, where his hard work and dedication were evident in all he did. Wallace faced struggles early in life, but met those challenges head-on and overcame them with strength and resilience. His journey led him to a meaningful role within Alcoholics Anonymous, where he was an active and compassionate supporter of others navigating similar paths. His commitment to the recovery community was a vital part of his life, and he gave back generously, always willing to listen, guide, and offer hope.
He is survived by his brothers, James Long and John Long, and his sister-in-law, Heather Long. He also leaves behind his beloved niece, Jennie, and nephews, Jake and Zack, both of whom he was proud to call his godsons.
A visitation will be held at the Little Church at Fort Lincoln on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 12:30 p.m. Wallace will be laid to rest alongside his parents and brother on the peaceful grounds of The historic Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love for his family, and his unwavering support of those in need.
