Ruth was born to the late Willis and Ida (Johnson) Dumire on March 30, 1927 in Valley Furnace, West Virginia.
After graduating from high school, Ruth moved to Washington, DC to pursue a career with the Federal Government on Capitol Hill. During that time, she met and married John “Jake” Jacob Evans.
Ruth and Jake eventually settled in Mt. Rainier. They had a loving marriage until his passing in 1980.
Ruth was very involved in her church, First Baptist Church of Mt. Rainier and Luther Rice Baptist Church in Silver Spring.
Ruth is survived by her loving son Keith and wife Julie of Brandywine, MD, her granddaughters Lynda Harmon and her husband Bobby of Taneytown, MD, Kelli Bateman and her husband Rob of Dover, PA and four adorable great-grandchildren, Jacob Ryan, Ian Harmon, Erica Bateman and Evan Harmon. She is also survived by her step daughter Genie Dutton, two stepsons Gary and Brian Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth is predeceased by her husband Jake, parents Willis and Ida Dumire, her stepmother Juanita Dumire and brothers Dent, Clyde and Ralph.
