Lottie Gary Hill, a longtime resident of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on December 11, 2020. She was born on May 12, 1932, to the late Virgil Lee Marshall Gary and Leslie Gary, Sr. Lottie grew up in rural Guerryton, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leslie, Marshall, James, Amos and Dave Gary Sr. She is survived by her sisters Pauline Thomas, Columbus, GA, Melvinia Gary, Washington, DC, Bennie Gary Barnes, Decatur, GA, brother Lewis Gary, Opelika, AL, her sons Joseph and Paul, her daughters-in-law Lenda Hill and Marriam Hill, her granddaughter Cassandra Hill, and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews/nieces. As a child she helped her parents around the house and in the field by picking cotton, cooking, and helping to take care of her younger siblings. She was an active member of the 4-H club and her diligence won her a First Place Prize. As a young adult she moved to Washington, DC had a family and worked at the National Institutes of Health for 33 years before retiring in 1990. During retirement she spent much of her time with her granddaughter Cassandra, whom she adored, and re-connected with her love of basketball. She attended almost all of Montrose Christian High School girls and boys basketball games during the time her granddaughter was a student athlete there.
