Lin Shee Woo of Norcross, Georgia passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the age of 82. After several months of declining health, Lin died peacefully with his beloved wife and their children by his side.
Lin was born on December 1, 1939 in Hong Kong as one of six children to the late Johnny Thick Fon and Vivian Yuk Hun Woo. He immigrated to the United States with his parents and eldest sister where they settled in Richmond, Virginia. There, he grew up and went on to attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA as an ROTC cadet. He returned to Richmond with the passing of his father and worked with his mother, sisters, and brothers in the family laundry and restaurant. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved photography – always behind the camera. He married the love of his life and started a family before moving to Doraville, Georgia in 1977 to take a job with General Motors where he worked until his retirement in 2001.
He was a generous and loving soul whose door was always open to family and friends alike. He shared his love for bowling, fishing, hunting, and collectibles with everyone especially his grandsons and large extended family.
Lin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine Lai-Wah Woo of Norcross, Georgia; their children: April Lynn Woo of Washington, D.C.; Richard Lin Woo (Wanda) of Springfield, VA; Amanda Lynn Chiavetta of Honolulu, HI; Lynda Antoinette Woo of Norcross, GA, and grandchildren: Brandon Lin and Bryan Lin Woo, Adam Bartholemew Anderson, Vincent Alexander and Micheal Alexander Ivatchev. He was preceded in death by his sister, Selena Ping Woo and survived by his siblings: Jean Kwong of Norcross, GA; Frank Chinn (Ling) of Henrico, VA; James Chin (Shirley) of Huntingtown, MD; Donnie Chin, Chesterfield, VA, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive visitors at Fort Lincoln Cemetery Chapel, Brentwood, MD on Sunday, April 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; immediately followed by a funeral service.
