

A well-known, well-respected member of the DC legal community, who hailed from Alabama and who practiced law for over 60 years and well into his 90s, former President of the Washington Bar Assn, John McDaniel (born 9.3.23) passed from this life on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Known to the prominent and common alike, a lawyer’s lawyer, he had a keen mind and was a gracious humanitarian – well-read and studied, a veteran of World War II and a Christian. He was a lifelong golfer, golf historian and baseball fan. He is survived by his son, Oliver McDaniel (Janice); his brother Robert McDaniel (Christine); grandchildren Catherine & Andrew; his devoted friend Rosita Wambaugh; and countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Flowers should be sent to Ft. Lincoln no later than 9/15. If sent on the day of the funeral, they should be sent directly to the Dunbarton Chapel.
