a time to die…
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2"
Janice (affectionately known as “Jen Jen”) was born on November 16, 1957 in Grover, North Carolina
to the late Howard and Mattie Littlejohn. She peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, November
27, 2019 at Georgetown University Hospital. As a young girl, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as
her Savior and was baptized at St. Peter Baptist Church in Grover, North Carolina.
Janice received her primary education from the North Carolina public schools system and upon
completion in 1976, moved to Washington, DC to join her sisters and continue her secondary
education. She attended the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University, where she
obtained a degree in Architectural Engineering. She worked for various architectural engineering
firms in the Washington, DC area and, in 1989, formed her own architectural consulting firm.
Janice will be fondly remembered as a compassionate and caring person. She was known for helping
homeless individuals and also for the affection she bestowed upon her nieces and nephews whom she
loved dearly. She always looked for ways to help those that were less fortunate, such as providing
coats and food for the homeless and checking on them during the cold winter months. She will always
be remembered as a true and genuine daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Our memories of her will be
everlasting.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brother Henry; nephew, Maurice and great-niece Miya.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, six sisters, Hettie, Frances, Lorine, Emma, Annette and
Agnes; two brothers James and Amos; six nieces, Kim, Iris, Yasmin, Brandy, Porsche and Jessica;
four nephews, Marcel, James, Frankie and Jermaine; six great-nieces and five great-nephews. She
also leaves two very devoted and special friends Lee Magruder, David Farmer, Stacie Snead, Leonard
Jackson; and a host of relatives and friends.
Though we are deeply saddened, we thank God for sharing such a beautiful Angel
with us and will carry her love in our hearts until we meet again.
