Age 63, passed away at his home in Washington, DC on Saturday, September 22, 2018, from natural causes. He was born on February 17, 1955.
James was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System, where he graduated from Alice Deal Junior High School and Woodrow Wilson High School. He was an entrepreneur and real estate investor in the city for many years. You could always find him giving and sharing with family and friends. His love of family was unparalleled and he truly understood the principles about, it’s better to give than receive. He was blessed through his giving. He was a founding member of the DC Renaissance, a charitable organization which provided scholarships for inner-city youths.
Survivors include his sister, Carlette Brooks-Dorsey; three aunts, Evelyn Montague, Maxine Sumner-Clark and Gale Sumner-Davis; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; very special friends and his companion, Virginia Moore. James was preceded in death by his mother, Jimmie Ruth Gregory.
Family will receive friends on Monday, October 1st for a Gathering at 12:30 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m.
