Early Monday morning of August 24, 2020 God said "Tine" I have many mansions, come home now to yours "Its a place of no pain, no suffering, no doctors, no hospitals, only eternal rest". She was proceeded in death by her mother and father Cleveland and Charlotte Horne, 7 siblings, Ann Rush, Sam, Henry Lee, Thomas, James, John Horne, and Irene Timmons. Two grandchildren, Iwon Ellington, Wardell Scott, and daughter in law Pinkey Smith.
Ernestine Horne Smith mostly known as "Tine" was born in Wadesboro, NC on May 25, 1929. She was
educated in Anson County Public schools system, and shortly after accepted Christ at Flat Rock Baptist church.
In Tine's early adult years she relocated to Washington D.C, which became her home. Though she worked various jobs in her life, she found joy in her role as a healthcare aide the most. That did not come to much surprise because she was naturally gifted to help others. She was passionate about the work she performed and the people she served.
She later retired from that role in the late 90s, but her work did not stop there. Tine exuded that same passion for her family working non stop to make sure everyone was happy and fed. She was a strong matriarch of the family, and the glue that kept everyone together. Though she cooked through out the week, her relatives would be sure to gather at her home on Sundays for a home cooked soul food dinner. If you knew her even for a short period of time, then you knew that one of her favorite things to do was cook, and everyone was invited. Most importantly she was happy to be able to spend that family time bonding with the ones she loved dearly.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving children: seven daughters Frances Evans, Delores Smith Woodberry (Ronnie), Brenda Smith (Glen), Gloria Campbell (Randy), Wanda Smith, Deborah Smith, Kathy Smith (Derrick); two sons Alexander Smith and Ricky Smith; three sisters Emma Evans (Percy), Isadora Whitley/Thomas of Greensboro N.C, Bernice Hubbard of Brookland N.Y. Two Brothers Shelton Horne of High Point N.C., and Lamar Pete Horne ( Delores) of Florence S.C. A special host of grands, great grands, and nieces and nephews.
