To Mrs. Constance V. Roberts, the entire world was hers to explore. She seemed to be eternally happy and willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life she touched by offering a smile, a witty remark, or the twinkle of her hazel eyes.
To Mrs. Constance V. Roberts, the entire world was hers to explore. She seemed to be eternally happy and willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life she touched by offering a smile, a witty remark, or the twinkle of her hazel eyes.
Connie was born September 10, 1931, in the house on the hill across from First Baptist Church of Natural Bridge in Natural Bridge, Virginia. She moved to Washington, D. C. at the age of seven. Connie graduated from Dunbar High School and completed one year of Minors Teachers College before returning to Natural Bridge to help a family member in need. After returning to D.C., Connie exchanged wedding vows with Julian Brown Roberts on October 17, 1956.
Connie loved to travel and toured almost every continent and practically all 50 states. She was an avid bowler until Covid and thoroughly enjoyed watching golf, football and baseball. In her later years, she spent summers in her home in Natural Bridge and as an active member of the Georgetown Senior Center and the Red Hat Society.
Connie passed away peacefully on September 18, 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Andrea Smith (Barry), Saundra Roberts; her grandchildren, Yanelle Smith, Nichelle Rowe, Marcus Roberts (Keisha), and Barry Smith, Jr,; her great-grandchildren, Julian, Jasmine, Kayley, Constance, Dionisio, Kaylani and Jordan; her aunt, Emily Lowery; her sisters, Shirley Moore, Theresa McKissick, and Patricia West; and her brothers, George McKissick and Howland McKissick. Her husband, Julian Roberts preceded her in death as did her parents, Roosevelt and Phyllis McKissick, and two sisters, Maxine Henderson and Renee Parker.
Connie brought joy to all of those around her. She lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. Connie will be remembered with a smile.
A visitation for Constance will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A service of committal and interment will occur Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:30 AM.
