He received his education through the elementary education at Magnolia Elementary and attended Central Consolidated High School in Hickory MD, as well as Bowie State University.
Charles was a husband of 50 years, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and so much more. From an early age, he had an artistic flair for painting still life portraits, of which he amassed a beautiful collection of intricately detailed family portraits. On any given day, he could be found watching old western films, political commentaries, and game shows.
One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying quiet tranquil evenings at home either in his favorite chair or sitting on the porch basking in the serene beauty of nature. He absolutely adored doting on his two grandchildren Jade and Ari.
With a calm quiet nature at heart, he was never one to shy away from speaking his mind. Above all, he loved his family and will greatly be missed. He lives on through the many hilarious memories illuminating his no-nonsense approach and quick wit.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: devoted wife Barbara Preston, daughter Sonja Crandon, son-in-law Shawnclive Crandon, grandchildren Jade and Ari Crandon, brother Ralph Hill, nieces Mickey Hamid (husband) Bilal Mahmud, Loran Lawrence, Monique Witherspoon, aunt Lucille Pitt, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his son Charles Levine Preston, sister Mary (Elaine) Witherspoon, father Charles J. Preston, and mother Marcelina P. Preston.
