Bertha Dixon Hall was born in Washington, DC on November 25, 1945 to the late Leola and Steven Dixon. She was the youngest of three siblings. Bertha peacefully departed this life on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in her home.
Bertha graduated from Cardozo High School in 1963. She had a career as a nurse for over 50 years. She received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from the University of the District of Columbia in 1982 and became a registered nurse. Bertha retired from the Washington Center for the Aging Services (WCAS) in 2014, after 31 years of dedicated service. She received numerous leadership awards during her employment. The WCAS workers admired her conscientiousness and dependability. She absolutely adored the residents and often said, "I'll always love people over paperwork!"
Bertha was a caring person, as well as a great listener. Very private and conservative, she always had an encouraging word for everyone. She was a spiritual person who read her Bible. Bertha was also very direct and was known to be ready to express the absolute truth when asked a question.
Bertha was not only an absolutely wonderful mother to her only daughter, LaVonda, but also to her daughter's friends. She was a proud grandmother and held both grandchildren tightly during their first days on earth. She will forever be loved and missed dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter LaVonda (Shaun) Johnson; two grandchildren, Shauna and Jaden Johnson; brother, Eugene Dixon; four nieces; a nephew; a best friend of 60 years, Geralean Harris and a host of family and friends.
