I had the pleasure of working with Archie for the past 17 years and throughout that time, we always had a smile on his face that could like up a room.  He was such a presence in terms of stature and spirit and always carried himself with a sense of calm and commitment.  He was loyal and hard working but certainly knew how laugh and have fun, and for that he will be missed.  My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.  The world has lost a good one.

My deepest condolences. My heart dropped when I checked the obituary. I didn't have a choice because I hadn't heard from Archie in a few months He supported all of my fund raisers and was always golfing helping others and smiling. I didnt live that far from his old address off White House Rd. I'm still in disbelief that my friend is gone. I know he is with the Lord and I beleive that his spirit will live among us forever! I will miss my friend. 
 Might I ask how did he pass?

Condolences fom The Beam Family. Mr. Archie was a close family friend. He came to our cookouts back in the day and continued to frequent Lee Place long after Ms. Katrina and my dad passed. I remember he always drove nice cars and never hesitated to stop and ask how my mom and the family were doing. May you rest in peace.

Words can not express how grateful I am to have had Archie in my life.  He was so caring and loving always looked after everyone, especially my daughter. He made sure she was always ok and spoiled her.  When his spirit was in the room you felt it. Always smiling and always laughing he will truly be missed. My memories of Archie are cherished.  I thought of the love we shared and all the laughter we had.  I thought of all the yesterdays … the good and bad, the happy and sad.  

I spent 18 years of my life with Archie.  I’m grateful he was the father figure in the lives of my daughters, Kim and Michelle.  Our life together was full of togetherness, fun and accomplishments.  He was a great treasure without measure.  Protecting, caring, nurturing and getting things done was among his greatest assets.  He made my life enjoyable just by being himself.  

Thereafter, even though we were apart, we were always together.  We had a special loving and caring friendship that never ended.  Nothing was more comforting and reassuring to see Archie at my family events.  In times of sorrow, he was always there.  Archie will truly be missed.  I will miss the telephone calls from him on my birthday.   A voice I loved is now still.

Since Archie will never will be forgotten, a hallowed place within my heart is where he will always stay.

I wouldn’t trade our special relationship for anything in the world.  My heart is still active in sadness and secret tears still flow.  Archie leaves me with wonderful memories that my heart will forever hold.

My condolences to the Smith Family.  May the love of God surround and strengthen the entire family during this time.

I met Archie in 1966 where we were both young men employed at the Safeway Distribution Center (Salvage Department).  Archie was soft spoken, respectful and a very good friend.  We both enjoyed sports and soon became a part of the Department's Softball Team where we had some good times.  Archie was truly a leader.  He will definitely be missed because of the impact he made on many lives.  

Archie was a great friend or as we called each other, “ Stick “. That’s someone who if you need them, they are there for you. People will forget what you say, But they will Always Remember how you made them feel !!!!  Archie always, made you feel Respected, no matter who you were. My Sincere condolences go out to the Smith family. 

Will miss our dear friend Archie! What a classy and fine gentleman! We shared some wonderful times together. The last being a fight party in January this year.  Smart, generous and a loyal friend.  A all around Great Guy who loved to golf.  We love him so!

Archie was a great man.  He's was a mentor to me in many ways.  His leadership at Teamster Local 730 was amazing and he loved everyone. I will greatly miss him and will never forget him.

I began working in the Labor Relations department of Safeway early in 1977, and met Archie shortly thereafter while he was serving as a shop steward in the company's salvage warehouse. That was the beginning of a forty year professional and personal relationship with a man I grew to respect and admire for his honesty and his unwavering sense of duty to the union brothers and sisters he represented. We didn't always agree about issues effecting us as bargaining parties, but those professional disagreements never had a lasting effect on our personal friendship. My sincere condolences to his family. I will miss Archie not sitting across the table from me anymore.

Archie was a class act and a gentleman.  Everyone who crossed paths with Archie enjoyed spending time with him.  I (and all of IPS) will miss him greatly!

I started working with Archie in 1965 at Safeway warehouse in Landover, MD.  I sometimes drove my motorcycle up on the platform at work and one day he asked if he could ride it.  I don't remember if he had a license or not.  He got on and almost ended up driving right off the platform.  He was a really good friend and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.  RIP Archie.  Sending warm regards and prayers to the family.
