Angela Hubbard was a caring wife, mother, grandmother daughter, sister, and friend. On Friday, March 1, 2024, at the age of 50, she gained her wings as she passed away after a courageous battle with heart disease. Throughout her battle, she faced life with a smile that would brighten up any room and pressed through due to her fain in Jesus.
Affectionately known as Angie, she was born in Washington DC and educated in the DC public school system. At an early age, Angie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. I am thankful to know that she is now with our Holy Father and is experiencing peace. She loved life and her big heart made her so easy to love.
Early in life, Angie started working at People’s Drug Store before moving to Safeway for 20 years. She served as a cashier and worked her way up to assistant store manager until she retired because of her health.
On April 18, 1991, Angie became a mother and was blessed with her special gift, Shawnay Jelisa Forrest. The two of them had a special mother/daughter bond that was unbreakable. They talked daily on the phone-sometimes, they were on the phone without even talking, but they enjoyed having each other on the line. She always had talks with her to keep her motivated.
She then met the love of her life, Bryant Hubbard, in 1993. After 8 years of dating, they got married on August 4, 2001. Throughout their marriage, they traveled all over the world. They visited Hawaii, Cancun, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Bahamas-Angie loved to go to any beach that she could find. She was happy to even fly down to Miami or go to Ocean City or Virginia Beach- as long as she was on a beach. Throughout her health challenges, this was instrumental in keeping her in happy spirits. Seeing how God designed the earth, allowed her to remind herself of her faith in him and he would keep her safe. They also enjoyed going to concerts, whether it was driving to Hampton for the Jazz Festival or a local concert, they didn’t miss a show.
When Angie married Bryant, she also gained a bonus daughter, Alyssa Hubbard, who she loved as her very own. She was so happy when Alyssa birthed her granddaughter, Noel (or as she called her, Noey). Angie loved taking her to Sky zone, Dave and Busters, or simply just having time with her grandbaby.
Throughout the heart transplant, surgeries, and hospital stays and trips- her faith never wavered. Angie was good as long as she had God, her life, and her baby Bryant by her side until the end.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Frances Randolph, Father Robert Vaughn, brother James Dunlap, and stepbrother Robert Vaughn Jr.
She is survived by husband Bryant Hubbard, daughters Shawnay Forrest and Alyssa Hubbard, grandchild Noel Paige, mother Constance Randolph, brother John Dunlap, sister Jennifer Dunlap, step sisters Vonda Carter, Rhonda Vaughn DeJesus, Robin Brown, Renee Vaughn, Regina Vaughn Smith, Tammy Dunlap, brother-in-law Aundrey Hubbard, uncle David Gurley, and best friend/sister Michelle Gilliard.
A visitation for Angela will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at City of Praise Family Ministries, 8501 Jericho City Drive, Landover, Maryland 20785. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 8501 Jericho City Drice, Landover, Maryland 20785. An internment will occur Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
