Alex Douglas Graham resided in Annapolis, MD. Alex graduated from Bowie High School in 1989 and realized at a young age he was destined for a life of Public Service. He started his volunteer firefighting career at 16 with Old Bowie Volunteer Fire Department Station 819 (1987-1998). Alex then became a member of the Herald Harbor Volunteer Fire Department Station 6 (1998-2019). During his time with the Herald Harbor Vol. Fire Dept, he served as a Board Member & Treasurer in addition to serving as a Delegate to the MD State Fireman’s Association and Delegate to Anne Arundel Co. Volunteer Fireman Association.
During the time between high school and the start of Alex’s firefighting career, he was employed by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (Emergency Dispatcher) and Verizon (Cable Splicer). Then in 2002 the position of firefighter finally came to fruition when he accepted a position with D.C. Fire & EMS. Alex thrived as firefighter serving and protecting his D.C. community. Additionally, it didn’t take him long to become a trusted member of the Fleet Maintenance Division where he assisted with small engine repair and maintenance, inventory management, market research of new & improved technology and testing of the essential firefighter equipment. Due to his exemplary actions with the Fleet Management Division, Alex earned the coveted Firefighter/Technician of the Year Award for 2018.
