Resident of Brentwood, CA Tom passed away after a valiant battle with Heart Disease. Tom was born in Berkeley, CA to parents Thomas, Sr. and Esther Sampson. He graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1949 and was a graduate of Contra Costa College. After serving in the U.S. Army for 2 yrs. he began his career with Standard Oil as a Boilermaker/Welder in 1955. He retired from Chevron with 35 yrs. of service in 1989.He was an active member of the Chevron Basketball, Volleyball and Bowling leagues for many years. Tom loved boating on the Bay and in the Delta. He owned his fist boat at the age of 12 and owned numerous boats throughout his life. His last being the "Portuguese Lady. “Survived by his loving wife of 58 yrs., Lorraine. Devoted children and their spouses, Cynde & Don Blotzer, of Brentwood, Kenny and Sheila Burt of Richmond. Grandchildren Nichole Maier, Amanda Blotzer of Brentwood, Gary Burt of North Carolina and great granddaughter, Karris Burt of North Carolina. Predeceased by his parents, sister, Colleen LeVine and son Gary T. Burt. and granddaughter Amber I. Burt. Burial to be private. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of his life on Tues, May 6th at 2 p.m. at the Nines Restaurant, 100 Summerset Dr. Brentwood, Ca. 94513.
