Born in the Yakima, WA, she was the youngest of 6 children. Mary was reared Catholic at St Joseph’s Academy in Yakima, WA and graduated in 1947. As a child she enjoyed ice skating, movies, roller skating, bicycling and snow skiing - all the normal activities kids do.
Mary attended College at Marylhurst University in OR, Seattle University in WA and was in the first class of women to graduate with a BA from Gonzaga University in 1950.

All her life she volunteered her time with her church to start a group called “Mary help with the Sick”. In addition to raising her children and taking care of her household, she was interested in arts and crafts and loved to travel with Dale all over the world.
Mary is survived by her husband, Dale; four children, Debra Kobold, Dale Cook Jr., Jim Cook, and Marie Wynn; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many in-laws who she considered family as well. Mary was a big supporter of her grandchildren and their activities, whether it was dance recitals or sporting events, she made it a point to be at every graduation, birthday or event even to her last day.
