Karen Lee Ellsworth passed away peacefully in her home on April 29, 2023, at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Harold Faubion, her daughter Jacqueline Ellsworth, and her grandson Ryan Ellsworth.
She was born in San Diego, CA on March 12, 1944, to Louise and Harold Faubion. She grew up in many places as she was a proud member of a Navy family. During her childhood she lived in San Diego, Long Beach; Kodiak, Alaska; Olathe, Kansas; and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Growing up she was a very adventurous and fun-loving child who especially loved to spend time with her twin sister, Phyllis, and younger sister Francine. She was very athletic and talented in everything including climbing trees and monkey bars, playing kickball, barn dancing, yo-yo champion, playing the violin and water skiing. She graduated in 1962 from Radford High in Pearl Harbor.
In 1963 Karen married Ron Ellsworth, the love of her life. They met and fell in love in 1960 while living in Olathe, Kansas. Her adventures as a wife and mother allowed her to live in Santa Ana, San Jose, Ben Lomond and finally settling in Discovery Bay, CA
Karen worked at A&W Root Beer Drive-In as a car hop in Olathe, Kansas in 1958. She also worked at Lockheed Aircraft Co in the secret military satellite division, and then as a bookkeeper for her condominium homeowner’s association. Her most important job, however, was staying home and raising her children and taking care of her husband, Ron.
Karen was a kind, caring and generous woman who always had time for family, no matter what was going on in her day. One always felt loved after spending time with her. She took pride in her family and was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was the proud mom of six children, grandmother to eleven grandchildren and great grandmother to four. She treasured every moment in her role as “Grandma” and showered her grandchildren with love and affection.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Ron Ellsworth; sisters Phyllis (Paul) Turounet and Francine Gutierrez; daughters Deena (Mark) Lytle, Carrie (Kevin) Strong, Kimbra (Steven) Ellsworth-McDonagh; sons Calvin Ellsworth, Bob Ellsworth, and 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege of being a part of her life.
