Bill, as he was known to his family and friends, graduated from West High School in June 1962. He joined the US Air Force in 1964 and served until 1968, as a Parachute Rigger serving during the Vietnam War. He was stationed overseas at RAF Wethersfield in England and later at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington. Upon his separation from the US Air Force, he worked as a Rigger Helper in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and later served as an upholsterer and sailmaker at Keyport where he worked for almost 30 years until his retirement.
Bill was an accomplished upholsterer. If there was a difficult project, people came to Bill. He re-upholstered antique cars, new cars, sails, and any type of furniture such as couches, chairs, and stools. He was considered a master of the craft. He was gifted in being able to make industrial strength covers for everything from sewing machines to tools and boats and took immense pride in his work.
Bill was never idle – he found many things to keep him busy. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, cars, boats, woodworking, building models and visiting estate sales. Bill was always looking for antique sewing machines and anything nautical. He had an amazing collection of sewing machines, models he made – many of them boats - and items he created through woodworking, all of which he proudly displayed. He kept his house, garden, and yard meticulous and frequently had an improvement project on which he was working. For a number of years, he raised cows on his property and enjoyed the beef the cows provided.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Dorothy LeTourneau, grandparents and niece, Annette Allen.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Curtis Allen and brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Kathy LeTourneau along with his nieces, nephew, and their children. He dearly loved his family and friends.
