November 12, 1951 - March 4, 2022
William Charles Brush was born on November 12th, 1951, to Evelyn and Douglas Brush in Warwick, RI. He passed on March 4th, 2022, with his beloved sister, Linda Hakala, by his side.
William battled lung cancer and beat the odds, and the cancer was linked to being exposed to agent orange while serving in the military. He leaves behind a wife, Sandra Evans Brush, sons, Shawn Brush, William Brush, step-son Johnathon Evans, and grandchildren. His greatest joys were family and playing softball for fire department teams.
Many know William as "Wacky" because he was a fun-loving, crazy firefighter. William served four years in the Air Force from 1972-1979 and three years in the Air Force Reserves as a firefighter. At the beginning of his military service, he deployed to Vietnam and then was stationed at Loring AFB. Then became a civilian firefighter at Westover AFB. In 1993, he transferred to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard fire department. With over 35 years of firefighter service, in 2008, he retired as the Chief of Prevention at Naval Base Kitsap Keyport.
