Vester was born August 14, 1923 in Dante, Virginia to James and Tercie Dillon. In World War II he served in the U.S. Army for 3 years from 1943 to 1945, he participated in the 2nd wave of soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy, France. When he was discharged, he moved many times ending up in Seattle, WA, and later moved to Bremerton where he worked at Bangor until he retired.
He met and married Emmalena (Emmie) Krogman in 1960 and has one daughter, Debbie who with her husband Paul Ofsthun lives in Silverdale. Vester has one grandson, Ryan McQueen, and many nieces and nephews.
Vester is preceded in death by his parents, James and Tercie Dillon, six brothers, Walford, Garvie, Noble, Perry, Robert and Art. Also, five sisters, Florence, Pearl, and Hessie as well as two sisters who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be at Peace Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 10th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Vester's name to Peace Lutheran Church, 1234 Riddell Rd, Bremerton, WA 98310.
