Born on March 13, 1958, Pam joined the family of Charles E. and Marceline K. Carpenter of Bremerton, Washington. As the youngest of their three children, Pam adored her older siblings Roy and Terri (Weaver) who affectionately called her Map. The Carpenter's were a proud Navy family that found themselves stationed all over the world. Pam had very fond memories of her childhood years in Bermuda and on Midway Island, prior to settling back in Bremerton, Washington. She graduated from West High School in 1976. During her high school years, Pam was actively involved in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, serving as Worthy Advisor of Bremerton assembly.
Pam married her high school sweetheart, Jack R. York, on November 14, 1976 and they went on to have three children, Dawn (Galbiati), Kyle, and Aleda (Schaffer). She is survived by her three children, husband Jack York, seven grandchildren, Breanne York, Kiley York, Carlo Galbiati, Isabella Galbiati, Jackie Galbiati-Coleman, Landon Schaffer and Ainsley Schaffer, her beloved brother, sister, sister-in-law, treasured nieces, nephews, and many very special cousins. Pam was embraced in Heaven by loved ones who passed before her, including her parents Charles and Marceline Carpenter, brother-in-law Bill Weaver, great aunt and uncle Laveta and Bob Cloward, and mother-in-law Janice Fischer.
Pam played an active role in every facet of her children's lives always finding a way to be involved; whether it was serving as a cub scout leader and Rainbow advisor, taking on roles within the church ministry, fundraising for schools, pageants, and sports. She loved to volunteer to drive and chaperone because that allowed her to be present so she could stand back and watch her children shine from the sidelines. Pam loved a good bargain, both for herself and others. She could often be found at one of the many thrift stores where she had a booth, at her own store in Bremerton, Second Hand Savings, or at a garage sale or auction anywhere in Kitsap County. Health concerns caused the closure of her store but when she was feeling well you could still find her treasure hunting at garage sales and volunteering at the Fishline home store in Poulsbo.
Although Pam faced numerous chronic health challenges, she was rich in spirit, positivity, and kindness to others. Pam was an extraordinary human who lived her life full of optimism, love for others, and so much joy, even at the darkest hours. She was a treasure to those lucky enough to know her. In her honor we ask that you hold Pam's essence in your heart and allow yourself to be led by her example. Be kind, serve others, be sentimental, forgive, love fiercely, and find joy in the small things.
Pam will be desperately missed by all those that she has left behind. A celebration of her life will be held at the Miller Bay Clubhouse, 22125 Sunridge Way NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370 on April 1, 2022 at 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who can donate blood or platelets to support other individuals who are in need of blood transfusions like Pam was in her final year.
