Owens Alfred Epps, 88, of Bremerton died Friday at home. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Charles and Louise (Yerby) Epps. Owens joined the Army, where he served for four years. After his service, he married Addie Mae Pierce on Feb. 23, 1946 in Bremerton.
Owens and his wife were long time members at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church; Owens was a Deacon for several years and Addie was a member of the choir. Owens worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 48 years before retiring.
Owens is survived by sons, Charles Epps and Floyd Epps of Bremerton, Michael Epps of Renton; and daughters, Elizabeth Barlet of Olympia, Carol Williams, of Goodyear, Arizona, and Flozell Epps of Bremerton; as well as 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Owens is preceded in death by his wife, Addie Mae Epps; his son, Owens Alfred Epps Jr.; and daughters, Betty Ann Morrison and Jolavannie Newton.
Private services will be held. Interment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton.
