Karen was born to John Simmons and Eleanor Stauffer in Bremerton. She died in her sleep at Forest Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long struggle with complications from rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Cindy; and her brother, Bob. She is survived by her brother, Jim (Buster); her husband, Bill; her seven sons, Brian, Jeff, Troy, Dean, Billy, Jeremy, and Tony; and stepdaughter, Stephanie. She has eight grandchildren, Marissa, Terrin, Tyler, Jason, Madison,, Curtis, Jenna, and Ava.
Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren and she was an avid gardener, especially blueberries. She loved flower arranging, painting, and drawing. She had a love for animals, raised Chinese Pugs, and was a member and past officer of Peninsula Dog Fanciers Club for years. She was an active member of Bremerton First Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 10, at New Beginnings Church, 1410 Ohio Ave., in Bremerton at 1 p.m. There will be a catered reception to follow in the church's fellowship hall. There will be a short burial service later that day at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park upper Garden of Rest area.
